Deployment Engineer
Responsibilities
Deployment
· Gain and maintain a thorough understanding of the technologies used by Aepona products and, in particular, system deployment in telecommunications networks.
· Undertake installation and commissioning of software and hardware within a growing worldwide customer base thus delivering a successful implementation and support services to all our customers.
· Play an active role within the Deployment Team and Company and maintain a close working relationship with the Test, Maintenance and Support Teams.
· Plan the integration work and testing of the system for successful roll-out to customer networks.
· Build relationships with customers and other team members to ensure the effective deliveries to customers.
· Assist in writing documentation and test specifications that can be used for both internal and external use.
· Collect and log important on-site information and contact details and ensure successful handover to the Maintenance and Support Teams.
· Deliver informal and formal training to designated customer staff.
QA
· Production of test scripts and test data.
· Definition of test solutions and implementation of test harnesses and scripts.
· Installation and configuration of test environments.
· Ensuring a visible test audit trail for all test execution activities (logs, conditions, bug reports)
· Execution of Factory Acceptance and Interoperability test plans against the Aepona product suite and/or 3rd party applications to ensure that documented requirements are met.
· Production of detailed Test Reports containing relevant test metrics and offering conclusions from the test phase.
Essential Criteria:
· Degree level education in Computer Science, Electronic and Electrical Engineering or related disciplines.
· At least 2 years hands-on experience of deploying systems on telecommunications networks.
· Proven experience in testing large-scale software systems
· Proven experience in Linux installation and configuration.
· Proven experience in Sun Solaris installation and configuration.
· Experience in Unix Shell Scripting.
· Experience in SQL and SQL Scripting.
· Knowledge/experience of Firewalls and TCP/IP addressing.
· Knowledge/experience of HTML/HTTP.
· Good hardware skills.
· Good fault diagnosis ability.
· Willingness and availability to travel extensively throughout the world.
· Good verbal and written communication skills.
Desirable Criteria:
· At least 3 years hands-on experience of deploying systems on telecommunications networks.
· Experience in Sun Cluster Installation.
· Experience in Oracle 10g installation and administration.
· Experience in Oracle 10g RAC / Oracle Cluster File system installation and administration
· Experience in Apache web server installation and configuration
· Experience in SS7 configuration and integration
· Experience in Corba/Orbix.
· Foreign language skills may be an advantage.
