Establishment of the Multipurpose Gamma Irridation Facility (MGIF)
Applicatinos are invited from persons possessing the qualifications set out below for the post of Project Director of the above project.
Required qualifications & experience:
1.
citizen of Sri Lanka
2.
age below 57yrs
3.
degree in civil mechanical/ electrical engineering or an equivalent qualification and at least 15yrs of experience in projects with civil, mechanical and electrical components, preparation of BOQs, procurement procedures and evaluation, construction supervisionincluding extensive on site management
4.
experience in management of construction projects with a Total Estimated Cost exceeding LKR 100 million
5.
knowledge of building and onstruction codes and practices in Sri Lanka
6.
knowledge on government rules and regulations
7.
computer literacy
Project Scope:
The project envigaes the establishment of a multi purpose Gamma Irridation Facility (MGIF) at the Biyagama Free Trade Zone, to provide gamma sterilization services on a commercial basis.
The project is being implemented with technical advice from stakeholders including the industrial technology institute (ITI), the Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) and the Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB).
Functions and responsibilities of the Project Director:
The Project Director will be directly resonsible to the Secretary to the Ministry of Technology & Research for the efficient and effective implementation of all project activities including the following:
1.
preparation of a plan of Action and an activity plan in respect of the project components and implementation
2.
supervision of all roject activities to ensure timely implementation, including the construction of buildings and installation of machinery, for the facility
3.
monitoring of the progress of project activities and evaluation of same
A Steering Committee appointed by the Ministry of Technology & Research will provide guidance and advice with regard to project activities. The Project Director will be required to liaise with the said Steering Committee, as relevant.
Salary: Not less than LKR 50, 000 subject to the approval of the Department of Management Services, and depending on qualifications and experience.
Terms oof employment: Initially for a period of one year on contract with the Ministry of Technology & Research but renewable subject to satisfactory performance and needs.
